Dubai to host India-Gulf biz summit next month

THE Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Dubai, and the Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) are jointly organising the `India-Gulf Partnership Summit' in Dubai from December 9-11.

The summit is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamadan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce Industry (DCCI). The summit has received pivotal support from the Indian Embassy in the UAE and the Consulate-General of India in Dubai, according to a statement from the IBPC issued today.

Mirza Al Sayegh, Honorary Patron of the IBPC, stated that the main theme of the summit is `Global Business Leadership' with particular emphasis on `Regional Strategies for Global Development and Business Strategies for Regional Development'.

Mr Rajesh Kapadia, President, IMC, stressed that the GCC countries are of economic, political and strategic importance to India. IMC is bringing some 250 Indian industry delegates to attend the summit at Dubai and IBPC expects participation of over 250 businessmen and professionals not only from UAE, but also from the GCC countries.

Mr Mani Shankar Aiyar, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Panchayati Raj, has agreed to be the chief guest and deliver the inaugural address. Mr Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State for Overseas Indian Affairs, will deliver a special address at the inaugural session. Speakers at the summit include Ms Renuka Chowdhury, Union Tourism Minister, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Suresh Prabhu, MP & Chairman, Task Force of Interlinking Rivers & Former Union Minister of Power.
