Cloudy prospects

The dark monsoon clouds sighted over the Malampuzha dam in Palakkad district are no solace for the drought-prone district long suffering from poor water management policies. Even now, people trek long distances for drinking water in many parts of the district.

Though it received normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon, the northeast monsoon has run up a deficit of 40 per cent in the district as on November 2.
