The Volcker report

This refers to `Sticklish Singles' (Business Line, November 9): The controversies surrounding the Volcker report notwithstanding, it is unfortunate that the Prime Minister's burden is increased with one more portfolio — the Ministry of External Affairs.

Even if Mr Natwar Singh is cleared of the charges, it will not augur well for the country to have him reinstated in the External Affairs Ministry.

This leaves the Prime Minister with two options — reshuffle the Cabinet or assign External Affairs to some other person.
