Foreign Trade Czech Republic wants more reforms in India Our Bureau
The Czech Republic President, Dr Vaclav Klaus, being welcomed by (from right) Mr Subodh Bhargava, Past-president, CII; Mr Anil K. Agarwal, President, Assocham; and Mr Onkar S. Kanwar, President, FICCI, at a meeting in the Capital on Monday. Kamal Narang
New Delhi , Nov. 7 THE President of the Czech Republic, Mr Vaclav Klaus, said on Monday that Czech business would like to see India opening up its economy further just as the Czech Republic had completely deregulated its economy. Addressing an interactive meeting organised jointly by FICCI, CII, and Assocham, Mr Klaus said, "We have become a full-fledged member of the European Union, we do not wish to be locked in Europe and want to engage with the rest of the world, particularly India." While seeking a more visible and active partnership with India, he said discussions with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, had thrown up key areas of co-operation in sectors such as energy and infrastructure, including railways, roads and ports. Mr Klaus said the week-long visit of the business delegation from the Czech Republic would provide ample opportunities to businessmen from the two countries to sit across the table and forge co-operation agreements. This would mark the beginning of a new phase in Indo-Czech business ties, he said. He said while Indian tourists to his country could experience great leisure and shopping opportunities in Prague and other cities, tourists from the Czech Republic to India could enjoy a varied travel experience.
