Hyderabad , Nov. 7

DR Reddy's Foundation (DRF) and the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) have announced a joint initiative here on Monday to implement the Livelihood Advancement Business School (LABS) programme in Hyderabad city.

As part of this initiative, the first MCH-LABS Centre was inaugurated by the Hyderabad Mayor, Mr Teegala Krishna Reddy, at the MCH commercial complex building in Abids in the presence of the DRF Managing Trustee, Ms G. Anuradha Prasad.

According to the Mayor, unemployed and aimless youth can utilise the programme to gain stable employment and can be productive citizens of the country.

He appreciated DRF for channellising the inherent skills of unemployed youth. While promising to take the initiative further by starting a MCH-LABS Centre at Secunderabad, he sought the support of the corporators to make the programme a success.

In a press release here, Ms Anuradha Prasad said the MCH-LABS initiative would play a vital role in meeting the growing demand of the service industry for trained workforce in Hyderabad. LABS looks upon this as an opportunity that can benefit many dropouts. The collaboration with the MCH ensures that the benefit of the programme reaches those who need it the most.

A widespread market survey conducted by LABS indicated opportunities in information technology enabled services (ITES), customer relations and sales (CRS), hospitality and BPO industries, Ms Prasad said. Accordingly, she said, LABS proposes to conduct courses for these skills and targets initially to benefit approximately 1,000 youth.
