Cipla Q2 net rises 28 pc

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Cipla has posted a net profit of Rs 122.6 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, up 28 per cent, compared to Rs 95.8 crore for the three-month period ended September 30, 2004.

Total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 588.7 crore in Q2-05 to Rs 673.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005.

The healthy performance comes despite the July floods in Mumbai that destroyed medicine stocks at Cipla's warehouse in Bhiwandi, on the outer-fringes of Mumbai. The company said that insurance claims were being processed.
