MUMBAI: Voltas Ltd has reported a 239 per cent increase in its second quarter net profit at Rs 18.85 crore against Rs 5.56 crore in the year-ago period.

A strong growth in the electro-mechanical projects and services segment, engineering services and cooling segment helped grow profitability, a company official said.

Net sales moved up by 60 per cent to Rs 476.10 crore against Rs 297.33 crore in the year-ago period. Electro-mechanical projects business grew by 89 per cent while engineering agency and services by 49 per cent.

Shares of Voltas moved up by Rs 7.95 to end at Rs 445.45 on BSE. For the six-month period the company's net profit rose by 77 per cent to Rs 35.40 crore as compared to Rs 19.98 crore in the year-ago period.
