Trade & Labour Unions Telecom officers seek withdrawal of DoT order Our Bureau
New Delhi , Oct. 24 INDIAN Telecom Service officers on Monday presented a memorandum to the Department of Telecom seeking a roll back of the order, which withdrew 1,300 telecom officers from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. The ITS Officers' Association said that the Government should constitute a high power committee to resolve the existing impasse between DoT and the officers. DoT had earlier issued notice to all 2,000 ITS officers, currently on deputation, asking them to get permanently absorbed in BSNL and MTNL. The association, , however, rejected the offer on the grounds that the package left the officers in worse condition both in terms of career and money. The Government set a deadline of October 10 for the officers to make a decision. Meanwhile, the Uttranchal High Court directed the Government to stay the process until the case was heard.
