New Delhi , Oct. 24

THE bilateral trade between India and the 25-member European Union (EU) amounted to $13.42 billion during the first four months of the current fiscal, logging a growth of about 30 per cent over the corresponding period of 2004-05, the Commerce Secretary, Mr S.N. Menon, said this here at the inaugural session of the 15th India-EC (European Commission) meeting on Monday. Mr Menon also indicated that the first meeting of the Indo-EU High Level Trade Group at the Commerce Secretary level was likely to be held later this year. The India-EC Joint Commission is the apex forum for India-EU Economic Interaction.

The two-day Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) is being held just over a month after the India-EU summit held here on September 7, which adopted the political declaration on India-EU Strategic Partnership and the Joint Action Plan providing the roadmap for future cooperation in diverse sectors.
