Adding a new dimension to personalised air travel, the German airline, Lufthansa, has recently launched `Lufthansa Private Jet' that allows a passenger to fly by a private jet from more than a 1,000 airports across Europe to the airline's hubs in Munich or Frankfurt to slip into your own business or first class seat on board a Lufthansa aircraft for reaching the final destination. Lufthansa Private Jet, which is operated by NetJets, can be used by passengers for services between Munich and Frankfurt and more than a thousand destinations in the EU, Norway and Switzerland as well as point-to-point flights between those European destinations. The passengers will also have complete flexibility in the choice of departure and arrival airports and be able to specify their own flight time-schedule. The new concept will save considerable travel time by eliminating stopovers and transfers as the passenger will be chauffeur driven from his private jet across the tarmac to the waiting commercial aircraft, a senior airline official said. NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway company, operates the world's largest fleet of private jets with more than 550 aircraft. The price of the luxury flight varies depending on the place from where it is taken with a flight from Paris to Munich on your own jet costing about $8,200. The Lufthansa Private Jet aircraft, that can seat up to seven passengers, have a range of equipment including data ports, power points, satellite phones and in-flight entertainment systems (audio and CD or DVD). These facilities allow the passengers to not only work but also relax. The service also guarantees seamless baggage transfer from the private jet to the commercial aircraft. "The Lufthansa Business Jet is the only offer of its kind and provides greater ease of travel to destinations within Europe," the General Manager, Passenger Sales, India and Director, South Asia, Lufthansa, Mr Werner Heesen said.
