Indian Bank plans more branches

INDIAN Bank is striving to open more branches across the country, its Chairman and Managing Director, Dr K.C. Chakrabarty, has said.

Addressing a press conference after the inauguration of two ATMs at Bhubaneswar and Puri, Dr Chakrabarty said the bank was also aiming to open branches in Indonesia and Hong Kong.

"We want to go to the East," he said. At present, the bank has two overseas branches, in Colombo and in Singapore.

Dr Chakrabarty said that the bank's financial situation had improved and it was expecting about 25 per cent increase in the net profit in the current fiscal. The bank has made net profit of Rs 408 crore last year.
