Ban on smoking scenes: `October 2 deadline stands'

New Delhi , Sept. 23

EVEN as the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) has sought a postponement on the implementation of ban on smoking in films and television, Health Minister, Dr A. Ramadoss, today said, "As of today, the October 2, deadline stands."

However, Dr Ramadoss said that officials of the two Ministries have held meetings and the I&B Ministry had raised some implementation issues. "We will have to take a view on those issues," he added.

The I&B Ministry has been under pressure from film and television fraternity against this ban.
