Maran cautions TN Govt on infrastructure

Chennai , Sept. 9

THE Communications and IT Minister, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, on Friday cautioned that Chennai would go the Bangalore way, if the Tamil Nadu Government did not learn lessons from the mistakes of other States in not improving infrastructure.

Participating in a function to inaugurate the CDOT Alcatel Research Centre, Mr Maran said if the same condition as in Bangalore prevailed in Chennai, IT companies might go elsewhere.

Bangalore, he said, had become difficult for investors due to poor infrastructure and traffic congestion.

The previous DMK Government in Tamil Nadu had constructed flyovers and four-laned the IT corridor in Chennai, to ease traffic congestion, he said. After that, no flyovers have been constructed, he added.
