New Delhi , Sept. 9

SAMSUNG India on Friday announced the launch of its health-friendly `MagicGreen' monitor, which emits far-infrared rays and anion rich radiation that improves the user's metabolism and makes the working environment bacteria-free.

"The MagicGreen monitor has received good response from China, Iran and Korea, where it has been rolled out. We hope to sell 50,000 units of this product in India in the next four months," Mr Ravinder Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director of Samsung India Electronics, said at a conference here.

The company said that the silver nano coating in the product serves to remove odours from the environment, making the air fresh and clean. The MagicBright technology allows for change in screen brightness to suit multiple applications. The technology allows specialised settings for applications such as movie mode, game mode, Internet mode and text mode.

The `MagicGreen Monitor 798MB Plus' carries a retail price tag of Rs 7,500.

Mr Zutshi said Samsung has identified products such as notebook PCs, multi-function printers and TFT LCD monitors as growth engines for its business this year.

The company launched its new range of slim and light-weight TFT LDC monitors in 17 inches, 19 inches, 20 inches, 40 inches and 46 inches screen sizes with prices starting from Rs 18,000 onwards.

"The world's largest LCD display — the SyncMaster 460P, which has a 46-inch screen is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh," he said.

The company expects TFT LCD monitor sales to grow by over 55 per cent this year, its General Manager (IT business), Mr Harry Ahn, said. The company also unveiled its new range of light notebooks, priced between Rs 56,900 for Samsung P29 NotePC and Rs 1.19 lakh for Q30+, which the company claims is the thinnest and the lightest 12.1-inch notebook PC.

"Equipped with an Intel PentiumM Centrino processor, the Samsung Q30+ supports multi memory slot and bluetooth connectivity," he added.
