SPIC cuts loss

CHENNAI: Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd has reported a net loss of Rs 41.20 crore on sales of Rs 456.72 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005.

During the corresponding period in the previous year the company reported a net loss of Rs 51 crore on sales of Rs 330.60 crore.

According to a press release from the company, operational performance has improved during the first quarter with a 38 per cent improvement in revenue over the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Urea production was 1.79 lakh tonnes (1.36 lakh tonnes) a growth of 32 per cent.
