Punjab Tractors Q1 net profit zooms

NEW DELHI: Punjab Tractors Ltd, on Wednesday, said its net profit in the first quarter of the fiscal rose more than sevenfold to Rs 70 crore owing to a one-time gain from the sale of a stake in subsidiary company Swaraj Mazda.

The company's profit was boosted by profit of Rs 61.3 crore from the sale of a 15-per cent stake in Swaraj Mazda Ltd to Sumitomo Corp of Japan.

Meanwhile, total revenue jumped almost 50 per cent to Rs 299.3 crore in the quarter from Rs 200 crore in the same period last year. The stock closed at Rs 183.20, up by 2.09 per cent over the previous day's closing on the BSE.
