Our Bureau

New Delhi , June 22

WITH the family feud finally off his mind, the younger of the two Ambani brothers, Mr Anil Ambani, today met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, the Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, the Minister for Communication, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, and the Company Affairs Minister, Mr Prem Chand Gupta.

Though the details of the meetings were not made available, Mr Ambani is understood to have briefed them of the contours of the settlement between him and his brother, Mr Mukesh Ambani, and also his future business plans.

Following the settlement, Mr Anil Ambani has secured Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital besides Reliance Infocomm, while Mr Mukesh Ambani retains Reliance Industries Ltd and IPCL.

Indications are that Mr Anil Ambani, in his meeting with the Company Affairs Minister, had a detailed discussion on the issues of corporate governance as well.

When asked whether the Ministry of Company Affairs would continue to examine the complaints filed by Mr Anil Ambani before the settlement, the Minister said, "The Government would continue to do its work on the complaints filed by him."

He said, "The Government has its own way of working. Once a complaint is filed, we have to have certain procedure for follow-up.''

In fact, a day after the settlement, Mr Anil Ambani, when asked whether he would withdraw the complaints, had said, "I performed my fiduciary responsibility."
