Education Info-Tech - Storage Manipal Academy, EMC Corp tie-up for information storage course Our Bureau
Mangalore , May 20 THE Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with EMC Corporation, Southboro, USA, on information storage management courses. Under this agreement, courses will be offered at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) a constituent unit of MAHE as part of the EMC Corporation University Programme. A MAHE release said here on Friday that the programme would benefit students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of computer science engineering, electronics and communications engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, and information and communication technology. EMC Corporation would develop curriculum, train MIT faculty, and set up laboratory facilities (software and hardware) to offer the above courses. It will provide hardware and software worth around $20,000 to set up a laboratory at MIT. Quoting Mr Rafiq Sayed, Vice-President of Global Development Centres, EMC Corporation, the release said over one million professionals would be required in the area of information storage management by 2012. EMC Corporation is a $10-billion global leader in products, services and solutions for information storage and management, the release added. The MAHE Registrar, Dr Gurumadhva Rao, and Mr Sayed signed the agreement in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr H.S. Ballal. Dr B.S. Prabhu, MIT Director, was present on the occasion.
