New Delhi , May 14

THE Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, has assured the exporting community of full support from the Government to achieve the export target of $92 billion set for 2005-06.

The Minister was participating in an export awards function organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO). He gave away the Niryat Shree and Niryat Bandhu awards to those exporters and supporting agencies that had turned in excellent performance in 2002-03.

Congratulating the award winners, Mr Nath also underlined the critical importance of service exports in bridging the country's trade gap and assured that the FIEO would play a key role in nurturing and developing the export promotion council for services that had been recently set up by the Government.

On the special economic zone legislation, he expressed confidence that it would further enhance the export-friendly environment of the country.
