THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Transport Commissioner has directed the implementation in phases of the directive that requires of stage carriers and heavy transport vehicles to incorporate `speed governors.'

An official spokesman said here that all heavy freight carriers must conform to the directive latest by June 30 and heavy contract vehicles by July 31. The deadlines for school buses and private service vehicles will be August 31 and stage carriers September 30.

The vehicle registration certificate should carry the necessary endorsement to the effect, the spokesman said. All new registrations in respect of stage carriers/heavy transport vehicles from July onwards will be performed only with `speed governors' in place. This is applicable as well for incoming vehicles from across the State's borders.
