New BHEL Tiruchi chief

MADURAI: Dr V. Gopalakrishnan, Group General Manager, heading Planning and Development Group at the Corporate Office in New Delhi, assumed charge as the Chief of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) at Tiruchi on Wednesday.

Graduating in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, he pursued thermal sciences for post-graduate course and joined the BHEL at Tiruchi in 1969 as a graduate apprentice.

During the 36 years of his service, he has served in various capacities in the organisation and headed the fossil boiler product group at Tiruchi before moving over as the head of Corporate Information Technology at New Delhi in 2002, according to sources.
