Thiruvananthapuram , April 21

INDROYAL group, a manufacturer of fashion furniture with operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China, besides South India, has set up a 100 per cent export-oriented unit (EoU) at Kinfra Apparel Park here.

The unit, set up to tap West Asian, European and US markets, has facilities to treat and season rubber wood and manufacture finger-joint rubber boards and wood carvings.

Mr J. Sugathan, Chairman and Managing Director of Indroyal group, told reporters that the unit, spread over 40,000 sq. ft. of built-up area, would give direct employment to 150 people in the first phase.

The group, which had started operations in the UAE in 1990 with just four employees and a turnover of Rs 50 lakh, now boasts of a total turnover of Rs 500 crore and employs more than 1,200 people. It has three companies operating in the UAE (Royal Group of Companies), China (Emir International) and India (Indroyal).

Indroyal, set up in 1998, already has a manufacturing unit at Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu. The second unit has been set up at Kinfra Park to make Indroyal the largest exporter of furniture from India, Mr Sugathan said.

He said the Indian arm of the group is expected to achieve a sales turnover of more than Rs 100 crore in the next couple of years. Apart from furniture manufacture, Indroyal has finalised plans to diversify into real estate and interior decoration.
