CHENNAI-based Pyramid-Saimira group has signed a MoU with Delta Electronics Inc of Taiwan for "design, development and sourcing of projectors for digital cinema market in India".

"E-cinema in India has, so far, been only talked about, but has not been successfully implemented," observes a press release from the company. "One of the main reasons is the high cost of projectors."

Delta will design, develop and manufacture for Pyramid Saimira group high quality projectors. Pyramid feels that given the low theatre density in India (17 per million people against 117 in the US), there exists a massive scope for digital projection systems.
