Pharmexcil lauds foreign trade policy

THE Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), under the Chairmanship of Mr D.B. Mody, has lauded the Union Commerce Ministry for having put in place a forward -looking foreign trade policy in August last year.

In a press release here on Wednesday, Pharmexcil said this has enabled an all-time high export level of $78 billion during the year 2004-05, registering the highest ever growth rate of 24 per cent.

According to Pharmexcil, the liberalisation and simplification of the export promotion capital goods scheme and the advance-licensing scheme would help boost exports.

However, Pharmexcil said the pharmaceutical industry is disappointed that the foreign trade policy carries no specific initiatives for it as promised.
