DSK to celebrate silver jubilee with mega projects

Pune , April 11

THE DSK Group (D.S. Kulkarni Developers Ltd) is all set to celebrate the silver jubilee of its construction business by launching one-crore square feet (sq. ft.) construction projects.

Talking to reporters, Mr D.S. Kulkarni, Founder Chairman of the Rs 800-crore DSK Group, said the construction work of one crore sq. ft. would be started this year and would be completed within three-and-a-half years.

This will entail infrastructure creation in Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. He noted that the thrust would be on housing, with close to 96 per cent of his constructions in residential areas, while the remaining would be in the commercial segment.

The first phase of this plan will involve the construction of 32 lakh square feet (at an investment close to Rs 500 crore), of which 23 lakh sq. ft. would be for housing and the remaining for the IT parks and commercial complexes. This includes five housing projects, two IT parks in Pune, three housing projects in Mumbai and one housing-cum-commercial complex in Bangalore. An investment of Rs 1,500 crore (through bank finance and internal accruals) will be made for the entire one-crore sq. ft area. The IT park in Pune, called DSK Vishwa, will have a floor plat of 72,000 sq. ft. and the total area alloted for it is 10 lakh sq. ft. The park will have a recreational area and a four-screen multiplex.

The other DSK IT project has an area of one lakh sq. ft. and is already under construction. Mr Kulkarni said the DSK Group has also created a land bank, in which it holds about 250 acres of land spread across Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. The future thrust would be Mumbai and Bangalore, Mr Kulkarni said.

The company is also setting up a subsidiary, DSK Overseas Construction Ltd, which would look into its overseas projects. The DSK Group is in the final stages of discussions for its first overseas project of constructing 125 villas in Qatar and has also begun talks to construct a township (comprising 1,000 units of 85 sq ft area) in Algeria.

Both the projects are expected to start in the next six months. The company is looking at a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore for the current fiscal.

The DSK silver jubilee `dhamaka' is being organised in Pune and Mumbai from April 14 to April 24, where all the upcoming projects of the group will be showcased.
