Software HCL bags Rs 20-cr software development project from BDA Our Bureau
Bangalore , April 8 HCL has pipped TCS and Wipro, among other vendors, to bag a software development deal from Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). HCL will design, develop, implement and support an integrated management information system for BDA to automate the business processes in its various department. Mr M.N. Vidyashankar, BDA Commissioner, said, "HCL was chosen as the preferred bidder after a thorough technical evaluation of the bids, out of a number of offers received from world class players in the field." BDA's outlay for its e-governance initiative is around Rs 20 crore of which it is spending close to Rs 3.5 crore on software applications and the rest on networking and hardware solutions. Mr Bejoy George, General Manager, Strategic Initiatives, HCL, said the software development project encompasses interfacing with the present IT infrastructure at BDA with respect to the existing applications, which are OCMS (an application for Online Complaint Management), IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System, an application with voice response capabilities for complaint management), GIS (Geographical Information System) and e-KIOSK (an application made available to public through kiosks set up at various locations throughout the city). HCL is deploying close to 40 people on the project, that's likely to be completed within 10 months.
