Ad your own

N. Nagaraj

Chennai , April 8

THIS ad is different. Because it is your advertisement. Yes, your own ad, for yourself, and you can make it yourself too. No, you don't have to hire an agency or a director or photographer to do this. And no, it is not going to cost much except a few minutes of your time.

If you can say what you want to say in two lines of 15 characters each, just visit http://themessage.flysn.com and go play. Just log in to participate, type in your message, preview it to see if it's cool, and send it to your loved one.

So, what's the catch? And there's always one. The Internet/e-mail campaign by SN Brussels Airlines will include the company's own branding and messaging (a viral marketing move) and bears a close resemblance to its television ad campaign.

The campaign works in two ways: One, it is a great viral marketing strategy, by which people are making their own ads and sending it to more people and, eventually, many people would have the ad in their e-mailboxes; and two, the concept of the viral ad ties in nicely with the concept of the television campaign where the message is that the airlines' staff will go to any length to pass on a message, and take care of the passengers.

So, if you had a tiff with your cherished one, go ahead and say sorry; if you want to say how special s/he is, do it — and do it in style.
