New Delhi , March 10

AIR Saharahas unveiled its new look that is to see the airline don the Indian colours of orange, white, green and blue.

"We are proud to be an Indian airline and want to promote the colours of India. The entire fleet will sport the new-look Indian colours within a year. We have made the aircraft lighter, brighter and more cheerful," the airline President, Mr Ronojoy Dutta, said minutes after unveiling the new colours on a Boeing 737 aircraft at the Delhi airport on Thursday. The make over has been done by Mumbai-based Mr Bobby Mukherjee. This is the third time that the airline is changing its colours since taking to the skies in December 1993.

The airline has undergone a complete make over and the new identity will be seen on the exteriors of the aircraft, branded stationery and products, counters, merchandise and inflight among others. Commenting on the proposed expansion plans, Mr Dutta said that the airline was examining the option of leasing three wide body aircraft from among the Airbus A-340, A-330, Boeing 767 and B-777.

"Three aircraft will be leased. A decision on which aircraft should be taken will be firmed up in the next few days. These aircraft will be primarily used to launch flights to Europe and Far East," Mr Dutta said.

Besides, the airline is going to acquire five more aircraft in next three months.

The airline has already been given permission to launch flights from India to Sri Lanka, Nepal, London, Singapore and Malaysia.

It is also hopeful of operating a daily service between India and the UK by December this year. "At present, the airline has been given permission to operate two-times a week on the sector," he said.
