Work on new station reviewed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mr Ramesh Chandra, General Manager, Southern Railway, has reviewed the progress of work on the second coaching terminal being set up at Kochuveli in the suburbs.

The newly laid lines have been integrated with the main line and the signals synchronised. A dozen coaches have been provided with a canopy. Work on flooring of the platform and other works are to be taken up.

The construction of the three-storeyed station building is progressing. The 4,100-sq.ft ground floor being taken up in the first phase will feature a concourse, a VIP lounge, Station Master's room, Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) room, waiting halls, staff room and parcel room. The Kerala Sampark Kranthi Express to Nizamuddin is scheduled to begin its run from Kochuveli by this month-end. The rake is expected to arrive later this month.
