Mumbai , Feb. 17

AIR India has launched a training programme aimed at improving its employees' service standards and passenger-handling skills.

The programme, inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, will see more than 12,000 employees undergo courses by March-end. According to an official statement here, it would sensitise the employees and help them rediscover themselves by developing various skills.

Mr Patel said though the new civil aviation policy would step up competition in the industry in the coming years, it would also throw up opportunities for growth.

The training programme will enable Air Indians to face the challenges of the future with confidence.

He urged the employees to provide excellent service so that passengers opt to fly Air India.

The airline Chairman and Managing Director, Mr V. Thulasidas, said the dynamics of the market place demand that employees do things differently and with professionalism.

While exhorting the employees to focus and commit themselves to the one thing that they would do differently today and tomorrow, to add value to the Air-India product, he assured them of the management's full support in this endeavour.

Some of the topics that will be covered in the training programme include improvement in work practices and motivational training linked with improvements.
