NRI meet

Yet another annual conference of NRIs and PIOs has taken place. Of the reported 20 million members of the Indian Diaspora those with entrepreneurial expertise constitute a small portion.

Most of the NRIs are unskilled, semi-skilled and white-collared workers, traders, academics and professionals. The only way they can help the country is through financial investments, which they are already doing.

If the NRI entrepreneurs are not inclined to increase direct investment, the problem lies with government departments. The one-stop facility promised long ago could literally turn out to be the one-stop needed to put an end to any investment proposal through red-tapism and lethargy of the bureaucracy.
