India, Japan discuss steps to improve economic tie-ups

INDIA and Japan have discussed steps that needed to be taken to improve economic cooperation, including on tax matters, between the two countries.

The Japanese Minister for Economic and Fiscal Policy, Mr H. Takenaka, called on the Finance Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, and discussed wide-ranging issues.

An official release said that Mr Chidambaram outlined the UPA's strategy for improving infrastructure and accelerating growth. In this context, he stressed on the role of investment.
