The Hindu Business Line : MCX, G.B. Pant varsity to set up krishi kendras

MCX has further strengthened its initiatives in the educational and vocational field, by joining hands with the G.B. Pant University, Pantnagar (Punjab) and the Welingkar Institute of Management (Mumbai).

MCX and G.B. Pant University would set up "krishi sewa kendras" in the various parts of the country which will be a one stop centre for farmers, agriculturist, processors, etc. to learn on key subjects such as resource management, harvest details, market prices, crop diseases, irrigation and various other issues related to farm management.

MCX has also come out with farmers service model of which a pilot project is being initiated in Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with an NGO, IASRD and several self help groups at the village level.

The service is facilitated through e-sanchalaks, who would be a self-employed individual jointly trained by MCX, the university and the NGO.

On the other hand, MCX has also tied up with the Welingkar Institute of Management and Research to commence advance level management development programmes, covering a wide range and scale of commodity derivatives market.

Along with the two tie-ups with the educational institutes, MCX is also starting online certificate programmes in the commodity markets. MCX will start two certification programmes.
