Cultivation Plea to cultivate more dry crops during rabi season Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 29 THE Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) has appealed to farmers to cultivate only irrigated dry crops such as maize, wheat, pulses and oilseeds rather than paddy in the current rabi season. APTransco Chairperson Ms Rachel Chatterjee stated that it would be difficult for the power utility to meet the requirement of the rabi crop during this year as there was a severe shortage of hydel power generation. Thereis also a 25 per cent increase in the demand for power in the current fiscal mainly due to a growth in power consumption by the agricultural sector, Ms Chatterjee stated in a press release.
