Economic Editors' Conference from today

THE Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, will inaugurate the Economic Editors' Conference 2004, which begins here on Wednesday.

"There will be separate sessions with Ministers and senior officials of the key economic and infrastructure ministries. The Conference will enable economic editors and journalists invited from all over the country to interact with them and get a detailed background of the Government's policies and programmes," an official release said.

The two-day conference will give an insight into the overall economic scenario in the country, besides the latest policy initiatives and thrust areas of the Government. The Conference will also provide an opportunity to the Government to get a feedback from the economic journalists.

Apart from the Finance Ministry, Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Company Affairs, Food and Agriculture, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Information and Broadcasting, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, IT and Communication, Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers and the Planning Commission are participating in this conference.
