Nod for Alapuzha coir cluster project

KOCHI: The Union Government has in-principle approved a project under coir cluster development programme in Alapuzha.

The project was submitted to the Centre jointly by the State Government and Coir Board seeking funding support under the Industrial Infrastructure Up-gradation Scheme.

According to a press release here, the total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 64.50 crore out of which Rs 48.5 crore would be grant component from the Central Government.

The remaining amount would be raised by beneficiaries like coir exporters, small-scale manufacturers, coir co-operative societies, Coirfed, Coir Corporation, Foam Mattings (India) Ltd and self-help groups, it added.
