Letters Planning Commission
This is with reference to "White elephant" (Business Line, October 15). Though the advent of economic liberalisation has changed the role of the Planning Commission, the latter has not lost its relevance. In fact, the Planning Commission should assume a more responsible role now. The attention of the social sector is diminishing day by day in the name of privatisation and globalisation. This approach is detrimental to the developing countries such as India where the social sector needs government investments.
