New Delhi , Oct. 9 RUSSIA has called for more liberal visa regime with India to further improve bilateral ties. According to the visiting Russian Foreign Minister, Mr Sergei Lavrov, the visa regime (of Russia) with India was less liberal as compared to other countries. He also said that the two countries "have agreed to urgently formalise the negotiation between the two consulates." While addressing members of the industry at a meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), he hoped that India and Russia would soon sign an agreement, on the lines, which Russia had with France and Italy. Mr Lavrov said that there was a lot of scope for cooperation between India and Russia and pointed out sectors like defence, IT, biotechnology and infrastructure, where both the economies would cooperate, according to a CII statement. A number of Russian companies were already investing in India, he said.
