New Delhi , Sept. 29

SUPERBRANDS India has chosen 101 Indian brands from 700 entries across 98 sectors for inclusion in the first ever `Indian Consumer Superbrands 2004', a coffee-table book scheduled to be released on Wednesday.

Superbrands India had set up a high-powered council to evaluate all brand entries received for being adjudged Superbrands for the year. The list of Indian Superbrands includes ACC, Air Sahara, Airtel, Allen Solly, American Express, Apollo Hospitals, Aquaguard, Archies, Ashok Leyland, Band Aid, Barista, Bata, Blue Dart, Boost, Boroline, Bournvita, Britannia, Brooke Bond, Business Today, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cinthol, Citibank, Closeup, ColorPlus, Complan, Crompton Greaves, Dabur Vatika, Dhara, DHL, ESPN, Everest, Exide and Fair & Lovely.

The Managing Director of Superbrands India, Mr Anmol Dar, said, "Being the competitive market that India is, there is a lot for business and industry to learn from the success of these brands. The Indian Superbrands are the best of the breed and consumers are instinctively aware of their distinction."

Superbrands India has already started working on its next project — Business Superbrands — which will identify and felicitate the strongest corporate brands in the country. Considered to be the Oscars in Branding, the Superbrand status is highly sought after amongst corporates in the 39 countries Superbrands operates in.
