Nabard staff to intensify stir

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The All-India Nabard Employees' Association and Nabard Officers' Association have decided to intensify their ongoing countrywide agitation to protest the unresponsive attitude of the Centre and the Nabard (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) management to their list of demands.

Disclosing this, Mr Jose T. Abraham and Mr A.S.S. Namboothiri, employee union leaders, said here that both officers and employees had been on an agitation over the past few months. They have been protesting the alleged moves to scuttle existing parity in pay scales and service conditions with counterparts in the Reserve Bank. The parity has held right from the inception of Nabard since most of the Nabard staff is optees from the RBI.

Both the employee associations have resorted to holding gate demonstrations from Monday onwards at Nabard office premises all over the country. They have also decided to observe a one-day strike on October 5.
