New Delhi , Sept. 27

GILLETTE India said counterfeit goods worth Rs 10 lakh were seized from a city operator on Sunday evening after a raid conducted by the Delhi Police.

The company said in a statement "The illicit trade of counterfeit, refilled and grey products causes an annual loss of over Rs 2,500 crore to the FMCG industry in India. This also means a corresponding loss of Rs 900 crore to the Government in taxes and other levies. The Government earns more than Rs 30 crore from Gillette alone on account of duties and taxes. This amount could increase substantially by checking the sale of these counterfeit and grey products," said Vice-President - Legal and Corporate Affairs, Mr Anshuman Sharma.
