Letters Foreign hand
This is with reference to "Making an issue of the foreign hand" (Business Line, September 20). It is widely known that the international lending agencies have been influencing the course of governance in several developing economies, even putting former officials in ministerial slots. The latest move is only part of their new tactical move to intervene in the country's policy-making. The policy prescriptions of such institutions, pursued for more than a decade, have led to the ruin of our rural economy and to growing unemployment. Employment generation having emerged as a key issue in the UPA agenda, it would be wise to keep the foreign hand at arm's length.
