HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has directed the officials to introduce a new contributory pension scheme for all the new recruits in the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) from September 1.

He has asked the management to opt for outsourcing by using organisations and groups instead of depending on private contractors for specific staff.

Dr Reddy also said in the recruitment of doctors, the officials should incorporate a condition that doctors would work in Government hospitals for two to three years compulsorily. Necessary amendments to the Act must be made, he added.

The Chief Minister asked the NIMS to increase the number of seats in the nursing course from 25 to 50. Two more medical shops should be opened and the medicines sold within the hospital should be within the reach of the common man.

Dr Reddy was speaking at the 42nd Executive Committee and 11th Governing Council meetings of NIMS on Thursday.
