Human Resources IAF pilots in UK for training Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The first batch of Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots on the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers (AJTs) has been put under training in the United Kingdom. Disclosing this to newspersons here at the Shanghumughom airbase here, the Vice-Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal M. McMohan, said the pilots were flown out six weeks ago. The training sessions would continue till such time as the AJTs are inducted into the IAF. On the delivery of AJTs, the Air Marshal said that although an agreement has been signed between the Government of India and the United Kingdom for their acquisition, it would take another three years before they arrived. As per the terms of the original bilateral defence deal signed for acquiring 66 Hawks in March this year, as many as 24 will be manufactured in the UK and the remaining in India, the Air Marshal added.
