New Sify service for corporates

Chennai , Aug. 31

SIFY Ltd, an Internet, networks and eCommerce Services company, has started a new service that enables corporate field salesforce to access their intranets and post their daily sales reports from remote locations.

Sify's solution incorporates a CD (compact disc) with software that creates a secure tunnel over the Internet to connect to the company's intranet and servers, says a company press release. Gillette Ltd has started using the solution, the release says.

Mr Rajnish Kumar, Regional IT Manager, Gillette Ltd, in the release said, since Sify's iWay cyber cafes are everywhere, Gillette does not need to acquire expensive equipment for every sales person to access the Internet. Instead, they are given iWay access cards that Gillette buys from Sify, and iWays become the primary mode of access to the company.

"It's safe, secure, simple and cost-efficient. We have just started using this solution, but expect it will make a difference to productivity and the speed with which critical field data is made available to management," Mr Kumar said.

According to Mr Shrikant Joshi, President- Access media, Sify, the solution combines Sify's network and security expertise, along with iWay chain to provide a field force connectivity solution for companies.
