DELHI-based eLearning company Educomp Datamatics Ltd is all set to introduce its year-old integrated technology programme Smart Classroom to schools in the US.
For the pilot project, schools have been selected across California, Texas and Illinois.
Mr Shantanu Prakash, CEO of Educomp Datamatics, said in a statement to the press, "Educomp is gearing for a commercial launch by March of 2005 and aiming to sign up about 100 schools in the US in the very first year." It would be investing close to about Rs 7 crore in developing and customising the content.
Smart Class was selected by the prestigious National Education Computing Conference, USA (NECC) organised by the International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) for a showcase workshop session in New Orleans in June 2004.
The proposal submitted by the company detailed the conceptual model and was selected from over 1,700 proposals received by NECC.
Abhinav Dhar and Shantanu Prakash of Educomp, who ideated and spearheaded the model for schools, see this as a boost to the company's plans to launch the programme in the international market.
The programme uses technology to make classroom experience totally different.
A knowledge centre set up at the school acts as the nerve centre of the network.
