Software Info-Tech - Human Resources Rs 600-cr capex planned Our Bureau
Mumbai , July 21 TATA Consultancy Services has a capital expenditure plan of Rs 600 crore for the current financial year, up from Rs 250 crore during the last financial year, said Mr S. Mahalingam, Chief Financial Officer . This would go towards technological expenditure and upgradation of domestic infrastructure, he said. The capital expenditure will be generated by internal accruals, he said. The company will be hiring over 5,000 employees during the current fiscal. Its employee strength is currently 30,121, of which 29,177 are on the Indian payroll. Last year, TCS had made a net addition of around 3,000 employees in its rolls. TCS is expanding its facilities in the country. Its 70-acre campus off Chennai is being expanded. Work space at its 24-acre campus in Andheri in Mumbai is also undergoing augmentation. A new 10-acre campus is coming up in Thane, sister-city to Mumbai, and another campus being set up in Kolkata, said Mr Mahalingam. Employee costs amounted to 20 per cent of revenues during the last fiscal, he said, adding that this was in order with worldwide standards. Employee remuneration does not impact margins much, he said in reply to a question on whether the supposedly more "modest" pay packages at TCS contributed to margins.
