THE Kerala State Agro-Cooperative Ltd (Agreenco) is setting up a condom manufacturing facility at Ernakulam with a plan to export 75 per cent of its production.

The unit is being set up at an investment of Rs 10 crore. It will have an annual production of 30 crore units, according to Mr Baiju Radhakrishnan, Managing Director.

The unit will start production by the end of the current fiscal; by then Agreenco will be ready with the brand name for the condoms, he added.

Mr M.K. Raghavan, Chairman of Agreenco, said the unit will require about 1,800 tonnes of latex annually and will provide employment to 100 persons in the first phase.
