Travel bandh

This is with reference to "Travel bandh today to protest cut in agents' commission" (Business Line, June11). Travel agencies have to cut their costs besides ensuring that the services are available 24 hours, seven days a week.

With e-ticketing, such protests by travel agents in respect of foreign airlines policies in India will have no effect. Even in India, agency commissions are being reduced by the post-office, LIC, and so on. The service sector can grow by volumes and not by increased commissions and bandhs.
