CJI's appointment

It appears to be an irrational move to appoint Chief Justice of India for just about a month, when he is on the brink of retirement. Promotion is not just recognition of the past work, but also should have a bearing of future potentiality of contribution in the elevated post. With the HR policy of most of the organisation and institution insist for a minimum residual service of two years or so, at least the Government of India should prescribe minimum left over service of one year or so for this highly honourable office of Chief Justice of India.

It appears to be a gross injustice that even the selection process of highest judicial post itself is not rationalised. Radical change in the approach is the need of the hour.

Hope the government, whichever party comes to power, take note of the above and put in place proper rules on the minimum left over service in the selection of select post so as to ensure continuity in the functional process.
